stupid thumb...

Sooooooo yesterday Oak and I went to help the Cleggs brand cattle. This is the worlds roughest day for these poor little things. If they are male, they get roped, then they get to have their you-who's chopped off, ears split and tagged, branded, and vaccinated. Not necessarily in that order but none the less... ROUGH females, basically the same except the lovely castrating part. So I was vaccinating them. it went pretty well for the first 75, then all the sudden one decided to freak out right as I was going to place the needle in it... this lovely needle is a 10 gauge 1.5 inch needle and just so happened to find its way into the joint of my thumb.. all the way in...I ripped it out, gave the calf its shot, and proceeded to watch my thumb bleed all over the place, praying that I wouldn't end up seizing on the dirt. When you vaccinate calves, you use the same huge needle each time.... So yes, not the most clean of items that I've ever placed into my body. Well, five minutes later my toe got crushed from the head of a calf that also just so happened to be wearing the metal head holder thingy.... that was even more fun. Thankfully we only had about 50 or so more to do and I finished up the day with out any more fatalities.

(this is about what it looked like.... best picture I could find)

Later that evening Oak asked me if I wanted to go to the Doctor (more like Tiana, you really need to go to the doctor). Me thinking I'm a bad a$$ said no, I'll be fine... Needless to say last night was the worst night EVER. I didn't get a wink of sleep (I'm sure Oak didn't either) because the World decided to take a rest on my thumb and let it painfully throb all. night. long. epic. I got up in the middle of the night, grabbed a bag of peas thinking that may ease some of the pain.... nope. then I decided that if I were to keep my thumb above my heart and over my head that might work.... nope... so I just ended up with my thumb. on the bag of peas. over my head. the whole night and catching a few zzz's here and there.

By today I had, had it. Oak took me to urgent care to hear the Doc say. "well looks like you stuck yourself pretty good with that needle" (NO FREAKING DUH! AM I REALLY PAYING YOU TO TELL ME THAT??) "is that what I stuck myself with??... huh wasn't sure glad you clarified".-me. "Looks like we can get you started on some antibiotic." (No, Really? I was so looking forward to losing my thumb.) "Great, thanks". End of conversation. Other than the whole x-ray sesh about him looking to see if it went into my bone, then telling me that he wanted to have someone else look at it too... You know. and that is the reason I hate going to see the doctor. They tell you exactly what you already know and bill your insurance company $565465138.25 to confirm it. fools.

Moral of the story: Do NOT stick yourself in the thumb joint with an infected, abnormally large, effing needle They do nothing for it and it hurts like a freaking son of a B!

oh how i love him

So, the other day. Oakly and Kris were speaking man. They decided it would be an awesome and brilliant idea to start making their own knifes.. Not only knifes, but throwing knifes. So a few days passed and Oakly comes home with a newly made knife.... Throwing knife.... He was so excited he brought home a very large log so that he could practice is awesome new passed time. Of course, I joined him and failed entirely at this new sport. However, it made him happy so I just let it be.. another day passed. I heard Oak pull in the driveway and into the garage. I thought that I would be way funny and scare him so I ran over to were our door is and hid... I waited... and....waited... and... waited.. then finally I was like what the heck is taking him so long?!?!? Its been like 5 minutes. So I guessed that he was feeding our dogs out back so I went to the sliding glass door to find him holding the dog dish in hand and practicing his throwing knife technique... I loved it.

Setting up his target...

Technique. Its very important.

When he realized I was taking pictures....

Love..

Then when all else fails and you can't hit the target, move closer... I love you hun... :)

Then.... The beautiful day of April 19th came to passed. My amazing hushhbands 30th birthday. (he is a dinosaur). Anyway! I have built him up to be so pumped for this day. Birthdays are a huge deal to me and I think that he should make a bigger deal out of them too. So for the passed month and a half he has been trying to guess what I got him. He guessed a Chop Saw.. So... I lead him to believe I got him a chop saw. So the day finally came and I decided it would be a good idea to wrap another decoy present for him. I stuffed that sucker full of blankets.

This was to now become a scavenger hunt. Blankets go in the closet....

The pillow found in the closet goes to the bedroom....

The bowling pin found in the bedroom (chips ahoy included) goes to the garage....

The envelope goes to the mail box....

The Western  Horseman goes to the Bathroom....

Landers toy goes behind the couch....

The rock (which Kris almost totally blew by showing it to Oakly in the first place) goes to the back yard....

The dryer sheet attached to the knife throwing log goes to the dryer....

The gun cleaner kit along with the "man" (downstairs) remote goes... down...stairs....

Where he then found his gift which he then guessed as.... What do you know... a gun (30-06 if you will) before he even opened it.... (this of course was the reason for the decoy)...

He was speechless to the point of after a million seconds I asked "OAKLY, DO YOU LIKE IT??"

The look was priceless...

The rest of his evening was filled with setting up the scope, aiming at items around the house, throwing knifes, eating cake and ice cream and of course visiting with amazing family.

I just would like to make a tribute now to my amazing husband.

Babe,

Your wrangler butt drives me nuts. I love you more than all the stars in the sky and sand on the earth. You are my everything and I am so grateful to have you in my life. I have no idea where I would be with out you. You are my rock and my complete happiness. I know that I will forever love and be so happy with you. You are the worlds best and the most amazing husband in the entire world. Happy 30th birthday
MY Cowboy!

Love,

Tiana

Ps. These have NOTHING to do with this post except that I took them the day I found Oak throwing knifes and thought they were amazing.

The sky was gorgeous!

I really love rainbows.

This was taken on Oaks birthday. I love this kid.

a beautiful day

Alright, now that I am over my previous post being deleted I shall post another. Lets all hope and pray this one isn't deleted.

So yesterday, beautiful day. Aw, so in love with it. I bugged Oak enough that we finally decided to play with me outside. I'm glad we did because can you say RAIN?? Yeah, mucky for the rest of the week. Oh well. doesn't even matter. I actually love the rain. But thats a whole other subject. Focus Tiana... So honesty our beautiful Sabbath day didn't start out so well. Oak had to work a  half day and I about died from a head ache. I hate head aches, more than anything. I am really lucky though, I never get them BUT when I do, kill me. I loathe them. So I called in sick to Primary and sat at home while watching our recorded General Conference that we didn't watch on the 2nd. First session, great!! Loved it. I heart General Conference to be totally honest. It. Is. Great. Moving.... onn...... so Oak came home, my wonderful death of a head ache had subsided so I BEGGED him to play out side (now to be fair Oak loves to play outside with me but he had just finished working...out....side...) any way! Finally went walked out into the beautiful rays of the sun! We decided to grab our doggies and head over to the Jr. highs field right next to our house, I grabbed a tennis ball and the camera. You betcha... Below....

Mac, my puppy. I am obsessed with him.

We taught him how to play fetch.. Love.

"duh, dun dun duh, dun dun... DUH, dun dun dun dun^, duh dun dun.. duh dun dun Duh de dun dun dun. duh dun dun duh dun dun duh de dun dun dun duh de duhhhhh de dun de dun..." followed shortly after by Mac being plowed over by Reba. He should have thought of that when he first tried to get the ball from her. Haha. Sooo funny. Probably had to be there.

Mac and Reba (his mama) Playing hard. Its so funny, Mac will come from the dog pile SOAKED, Reba drools all over the poor pup... He loves it though.

"balllll...ball, ball ball ball ball ball BALL!!!" -Mac.
"I'm too old for this..."-Reba.
"This Tennis ball is filth." -Tiana
"I'm so glad that Tiana made me come play with her, she is amazing and the worlds best wife. I just love her so much. She just amazes me with all her brilliant ideas. Like playing outside, even though I was being a bum about it. Hm, I should go get her some Gerber daisy flowers and/or wild flowers because they are her favorite. While I'm at it. I will clean the house, make dinner, do the laundry, and sing to her while she rests as I massage her feet. She deserves it." -Oakly

I love this picture! Our doggies are sooooooo Man's Best Friend. They are super good. Reba can be a spaz and a knuckle head, but all in all they are so good!

That tennis ball was disgusting. Ha, it was way funny. They were so hot they were like trying to hide in my shadow, then they started to play and like .24587 seconds after this picture was taken they tried to knock me over. Oakly thought it was funny once Mac was on top of my face he tried to get Reba into the mix... Needless to say, my clothes need to be washed.

Oakly practiced his incredible photography skills, on.me. I was standing here like this for like 58 minutes while he was trying to take the picture.

Over all pretty sure it made for an awesome day at the park/field-of-the-jr.-high-but-it-sounds-better-saying-park-so-i'll-just-stick-with-that.

to update.

These passed weeks I have learned so many things...

1: It doesn't matter where you are from or who you are every little boy sometime in life wants to be a cowboy.

2: The perfect banana bread recipe calls for lemon juice.

3: When giving Landers a bath wear a rain coat.

4: Tickle wars are the best!

5: How to castrate a calf... Poor thing...

6: Oakly. Is. Amazing.

7: Apparently I need to watch more america's next top model to be better at my "every day" face. That aside, Landers love riding with me. :)

8: When Kris comes out to stay be prepared for Guns, Gun Smell, Machoness, and a whole lot of shooting.

9: I'm a better shot than Oakly. Shhhhh.

10: When getting pulled over at gun point for shooting bunnies at night. Don't turn around to talk to the police officer. They don't like that. Thanks heavens Oakly is famous in Tooele.

11: It is very hard when a brother leaves to Afghanistan, however, I know how to throw a great party. Man games included.

12: Happy Sumo has amazing mints, however, they leave residue....

13: When purchasing a new car... Go with a 2011 Mazda 3. I'm. A. Fan.

14: It is really difficult losing a Grandfather, especially knowing that there was more that I could do to become closer to him. However, I know he is in a better place and I am so happy for him.

15: Never ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, NEVER go to bed angry. Its not worth it.

16: Update blog more often.

Just that.

Stand a Little Taller: Counsel and Inspiration for Each Day of the Year

So recently, thanks to Jen and Brady, I have been reading the quotes daily from Stand A Little Taller by our late, amazing latter day prophet, Gordon B. Hinkley.  Every day is a new thought and a new challenge to stand a little taller in life, to be a better person and truly find joy in the world around us. There have been many quotes that have impacted me and its so amazing how each quote for that day is perfect for the current events in my life. The Lord knows what he is doing when he enlightens these amazing men who are instruments in his hands. To start today's quote is:
Kneel in Family Prayer
We will give ourselves continually to prayer.
-ACTS 6:4
"I feel satisfied that there is no adequate substitute for the morning and evening practice of kneeling together-father, mother, and children. This, more than heavy carpets, more than lovely draperies, more than cleverly balanced color schemes, is the thing that will make for better and more beautiful homes."

Oakly and I are really not that great at praying together. That is something that I would love to work on however. I have such a strong testimony of the power of prayer. It truly amazes me how much my Father in Heaven really does know me individually. I really have no need to fret or worry because he has my back and loves me. I know that through prayer you can strengthen home and family, build unbreakable relationships and truly become the person you seek to be. Prayer can mend shattered hearts and can sew a torn family apart together again. He knows and loves each of us. He wants us to talk to him, let him know how our day has been and cry to him in pain if we have it. He wants to lift our burdens and ease any fear. He will help, all we have to do is ask.

Love Overcomes
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only
begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him
should not perish, but have everlasting life.
-JOHN 3:16

"Love is the only force that can erase the differences between people-that can bridge chasms of bitterness."
Truly the Beetles had it right because:
"All you need is love, love is all you need"

I believe that if we start with only once a day switching out anger, frustration, or any negative feeling and turn it into love we will all become better people. We will be able to truly love others more and thus be happier in life. Choose love. Honestly, as in the genius words of The Goo Goo Dolls:
"Let love in."
It feels so much better to love any way.

I love the Gospel everything about it. Its not easy to live, but it sure is worth it.

oh... geeeezzz.

Ef. Today was a day of "I really shouldn't do this, but I will anyway". I work from home. Love it. And well, today was really slow at work, so they offered what is called VTO, (volunteered time off). I sat there for .165843513658 seconds debating with myself if I should do it, because, well Oak and I want the money. So I thought, bah I need to work so I wont do it... Then my fingers started replying back to the e-mail and said that I wanted it. I even said "Stop fingers." They wouldn't. I got it. I'm off work at 10 am. Then right after I got off work I started my daily e-mail, Lulu, Facebook, and finance check online. Lulu did it to me. They had the jacket I've wanted for 41368 million years back in stock. in. my. size. Perfect I thought well while my fingers are being bad my legs and body may as well be too and they stood up and went and got my credit card so that they could purchase this beautiful million dollar jacket. My brain said, "body you shouldn't be doing that" body didn't listen. Did it any way. Have the beautiful jacket on its way. Now to tell Oakly......

Movement Jacket
I heart it so much. I'm happy...

Now I'm off to clean house, run errands, get my stupid fix it ticket fixed, make a huge amazing dinner so I can break the news to Oakly about the jacket, go fake baking shhhh don't tell lulu (I just started. I was depressed my skin was translucent) and hit the gym.

Oak, if you read this before you get home. Remember, I LOVE YOU.
